The various types of facials can be confusing, and knowing what will work best for your skin and skin goals can make it even more difficult to know which type of procedure you should get. Many new patients have questions regarding how the different types of lasers work, how they differ from each other, what to expect, and more. We put together this blog to help explain the differences between the Clear + Brilliant facial vs. the IPL Photofacial, two very popular types of procedures.
What Is A Clear + Brilliant Facial?
The Clear + Brilliant laser system was designed specifically to help rejuvenate and refresh skin from sun damage, aging, and pigmentation. This type of laser is non-invasive and more gentle to the skin than some of the other options. The Clear + Brilliant laser works by creating microscopic “wounds” all over the skin, which will cause the skin to naturally produce collagen in order to heal. This collagen production will create fresh new skin cells, and cause the others to peel and shed the dead skin uncovering fresh, glowing skin.
What Is An IPL Photofacial?
IPL Photofacial, which stands for Intense Pulsed Light, is a type of procedure that aims to improve the color and texture of the skin without having to undergo surgery. Specifically, IPL Photofacial uses light energy to target certain colors in your skin such as red, brown, or splotchy skin from sun damage or skin conditions. This works by sending out wavelengths of pulsating lights that in turn heat up the skin which causes your body to get rid of unwanted cells. Conditions that an IPL Photofacial include acne, stretch marks, birthmarks, fine wrinkles, freckles, spider veins, and so much more.
Which Should You Choose?
Both Clear + Brilliant and IPL are great choices, but for different reasons. If your main concern is the youthful appearance of your skin, and you feel you need younger, glowing skin then we recommend choosing Clear + Brilliant. However, if your main concern is pigmentation and redness in your skin then we recommend choosing an IPL Photofacial. Both require zero downtime and are non-invasive, and have been proven safe and effective.
